· H₂S Training

H₂S is known as Hydrogen Sulphide gas, which comes along with the oil from the reservoir in most of the oil fields. This is a poisonous gas. At low concentrations, that is at lower than 10 ppm (parts per million) level, the gas will smell like a rotten egg. At higher concentration levels, the gas will make the person to loss his sense of smelling and create a complete disorder of the nerve and brain system. At a very high concentration, the gas will kill the individual instantaneously. This gas has to be handled very safely in oil field operations and a special training is required to safeguard the individual from the gas.

I have undergone this training programme when I was working for Shell group Oil Company at Sultanate of Oman. I have learnt the techniques of self rescue and rescuing others in H₂S area.
