For an effective functioning of a Safety Management System, various activities performed should have to be monitored closely and periodically audited to find out the compliance. If any deviation is noticed, necessary corrective actions should be initiated.

With this principle in mind, an auditor has to be developed to carry out an audit as an individual or as a member of a team. Auditors should be in possession of the relevant technical, conceptual and human skills to carry out the audit. In the Internal auditor course such skills are united in the auditors mind to carry out an effective audit.

I have attended an Internal Auditor course at India and periodically conducting Operations and Safety Audit of oil field installations.
