·       First Aid

As the name implies, the objective of the course is to prepare an individual to offer any first line medical assistance for any deceased person. In an oil industry, the oil wells and the processing plant are likely to in different remote locations. People have to go to remote area where there may not be any medical facility. It wouldn’t be practicable to send a doctor or a para-medic with each working group to remote areas. The concept of preparing the working team to work safely and in the event of the breakout of any accident, individual offering the first line medical services is the practicable approach in oil industries. In line with this concept, employees in the oil industries are trained in First Aid by qualified doctors and paramedics. The course has several layers; namely Basic First Aid, Advanced First Aid etc.

During my career, I have attended Basic First Aid course in Shell and Conoco Group companies at Muscat and Dubai respectively. First aid course is a useful course not only for any industry, but also for any domestic occasions. I strongly recommend this course for common public. Red Cross societies conduct first aid courses for the public and employees of any organization. People should come forward and make use of the available facilities.
